Six Southwest football players were selected by coaches to the All-District D6-5 Football team. Tyler Ellis was a first team selection to the All-District First Team defensive line while Nate Rippe was also a first team defensive player as a linebacker/defensive back.

10 years ago Bill Malchow, PA-C with Tri Valley Health System enjoyed a warm reception last Monday at the Arapahoe Medical Clinic in honor of his years of service. Malchow has changed his career path and is now practicing Behavioral Medicine in McCook and North Platte for Region 2 Behavioral Health Services out of North Platte.

10 years ago The Elwood High School FCCLA National Cluster meeting held in Denver and the members are Cheyenne Beck, Taylor Gydesen, Ashley Larsen, Mackenzi Anderson, and Taylor Carlberg. Pinnacle Bank in Elwood will hold its remodel grand opening on Sunday, December 4 from 3 to 5 p.m.

10 years ago GAR stands for Grand Army of the Republic formed in 1866 as Union Veterans looked for camaraderie and political power. Membership was limited to honorably discharged veterans of the Union Army, Navy, Marine Corps, or the Revenue Cutter Service who had served between April 12, 1861 and April 18, 1865.

25 Years Ago November 28, 1996 John Stoelting, local technician for Classic Cable, is pictured presenting a check to Karla Warner, chairman of the Beaver City Swimming Pool Committee. Warner reports the committee now has $49,323.78 in their fund.
