CAMBRIDGE - Four area golf teams teed off their seasons last week at the Cambridge Invite at Cross Creek Golf Links. Arapahoe led local teams with a sixth-place finish and a score of 403 while Hi-Line was eighth in the 13-team field with a 455 for the day.

Trojans finish fifth at Hoehner Invite in McCook

MCCOOK - Both the Cambridge boys and girls track and field teams finished fifth at the six-team Leroy Hoehner Invite in McCook Thursday. The Cambridge girls scored 66 points and the boys finished with 46 points in a field that included McCook, Lexington, Holdrege, Hays and Colby as well.

25 Years Ago April 3, 1997 Judge Cloyd Clark emphasized freedom as he spoke to 117 seniors from Furnas County high schools during County Government Day on Wednesday in Beaver City. Orel and Sue Olinger of Beaver City received word that his niece, Jacqueline Leonard, 72, was one of the 39 members of the cult known as Heaven’s Gate who had taken their lives in a mass suicide this week at Rancho Sante Fe, CA.

10 years ago The newly appointed Clerk of the District Court is Victoria Barnett and was elected by the Furnas County Commissioners to take the place for Judy Beins. At the Village of Holbrook Board meeting they received a refund check in the amount of $1104,70 from the EMC insurance.
