Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, April 18, 2022. Council Member Mike Harris was absent from the meeting. After approving the Consent Agenda Items, members of the Cambridge Volunteer Fire Department were present to discuss plans to build a grass rig. The department is requesting half of $112,000 to purchase a pickup and add a skid unit to replace one of the current grass rigs that have been having issues. A motion was made to approve the request contingent on the Rural Fire Board’s approval of covering half of the cost. The motion was seconded and approved. Other discussion was held on utilizing the BIC hydrants outside of Indianola, Bartley, and Cambridge to help should the need arise. Utilities Supervisor Dave Houghtelling said he would be sure the fire departments knew how to use them.

Roger creates these awesome pieces of artwork free handed with cans of spray paint. And it takes lots of cans! Make a point of going for a ride in the country and go by to see this latest creation.

BEAVER CITY-The city council unanimously approved a liquor license application for Weaver’s One Stop during the regular meeting on April 18, 2022. Craig and Kay Weaver represented the familyowned business at the public hearing after submitting a liquor license application to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission (NLCC) for the initial review.

A Memorial Mass for Kenneth L. Duran will be held on Tuesday, April 26 at 10:30 a.m.

Terry “Joe” Kasson, age 83 of Wilsonville, NE, passed away at his home on April 13, 2022. He was born in Norcatur, KS on April 15, 1938, to Wayne and Bernice (Ankenman) Kasson. Joe attended the Wilsonville schools and graduated high school in 1956. He continued his education at Kearney State Teachers College for one year, then graduated with an associates degree the next year from McCook Community College.

10 years ago Cub Scouts Zack Ryan, Tanner O’Brien, Clayton Hardy, Hunter Cunningham, and Tyler Ellis visited the Indianola News Office to see how a newspaper is put together. After 35 years ago the late Aulis Zink made 3 rolling pins to be used in a Ladies Rolling Pin Throw Contest at Old Settlers.

10 years ago Honor Society display items collected for the Adopt a Soldier program. Items will be boxed and sent to the seven soldiers that they have adopted.

10 years ago Amber Metzger performed a solo during the music contest held Saturday for students in grades fifth through eight. The Arapahoe Tree Board is hosting Arapahoe kindergarten through fourth grades at the annual Arbor Day celebration on April 27.

The Hi-Line boys track and field team scored 26 points to finish eighth and the girls put up 21 points to take 10th at the 13-team Bertrand Invite Thursday. Isaiah Bullis, Colton Stubbs, Joszelyn Nichelson and Whitney Dickau each won three medals for the Bulls, who put up 17 personal bests and 11 season bests at the meet.
