Beaver City to hold Budget Hearing on September 19

BEAVER CITY – The city council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. During the three-hour meeting, the council acted on several agenda items: A building permit request by Jordan Frey for a shop at 1407 O Street was approved; Jerry Davis (whose boat was to be repaired and inadvertently hauled to the dump when the property was declared a nuisance) received permission to retrieve his pontoon boat.

Cambridge School Board approves the 2022-23 Budget

The Cambridge School Board met in regular session on Monday, September 12, 2022. The Board started the evening with a work session at 5:00 pm. At 7:00 pm, they called the Budget and the Tax Levy Hearing to order. There were no public comments. The regular meeting was then called to order. There was no public comment and the board approved the agenda and the minutes from the August 8, 2022 and August 30, 2022 meetings. In the Treasurer’s report, Superintendent Greg Shepard commented said the total general fund is up from the previous few years. Shepard said he plans to “toe the line” with the budget because there is a possibility of losing funds in the next year. The Building fund is lower than it has been in the past few years and Shepard reminded the Board that additional funds would be deposited in the Special Building Fund with the 20222023 tax levy asking. The Board then approved both the General Fund Claims and the Special Building Fund Claims.

08/19/2022 1:02 PM Oxford, NE 68967 Deputies responded to report of child abuse in Oxford. Investigation resulted in a 30 year old Oxford man being cited for non-injury child abuse and will appear in Furnas County Court.

According to the Nebraska Corn Board, 57% of all planted corn acres in Nebraska are irrigated and 43% is dryland. On average, 64% of all corn production comes from irrigated corn. In the 2012, another year marked by drought, irrigated corn production accounted for nearly 85% of the corn production.
