Nebraska is one of the nation’s top agricultural states. Our farmers and ranchers have products that reach every corner of the country, as well as foreign markets around the world. In 2020, Nebraska exported $2.33 billion worth of soybeans/soybean products and $1.2 billion worth of corn. In 2021, Nebraska exported $1.81 billion worth of beef and $325.8 million worth of pork.

Gosper County Drowning

At approximately 1:42 pm on October 23, the Elwood Fire and Rescue Unit along with the Gosper County Sheriff’s office responded to a call for assistance in reference to a boating accident that had occurred at Elwood Reservoir. Two adult males were involved in the accident when their fishing boat capsized due to the high winds. One of the males involved in the accident was treated on the scene. The second adult male was unaccounted for. Nebraska Game and Parks, Lexington Fire and Rescue Elwood Fire and Rescue and the Gosper County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the search and rescue operation. The missing individual was not located and due to the safety of the rescue crews the operation was suspended at 8:00 pm. The search and rescue operation was continued at approximately 8:00 am on October 24. At approximately 2:41 pm Nebraska Game and Parks and the Lincoln County Dive Team were able to locate and recover the missing male.

The Board of Regents is the governing body for the University of Nebraska. It consists of eight voting members who are elected for six-year terms. District 7 is comprised of the western 45 counties of Nebraska, and it reaches from the Colorado/Wyoming line to the eastern edges of Holt and Harlan counties. BEAVER CITY – The Beaver City Planning Commission and the City Council held special meetings on Friday, October 28, 2022, to consider whether or not to allow a butcher shop to be established within city limits for deer season. Austin Stear, who appeared at both meetings to answer questions posed by both commission and city council members as well as the public, first requested a building permit for the primary purpose of processing deer on lots 16 & 17 on block 44, between 10th and 11th Streets in September.
Boo views, trunk or treat, candy, hot dogs, movies and costume parades are all part of the fun during Halloween.
