TeamMates Jump into Harlan County! Jason Weiss and Lisa Dutt represented Cambridge at the Patterson Harbor Marina Polar Plunge event on Saturday, March 18. This annual event raised over $30,000 through corporate donations and sponsors for individual plungers. The funds raised are distributed to many TeamMates chapters in the surrounding area, including the Cambridge TeamMates chapter. There were 45 plungers who braved the coldest temps yet in the 11 year history of this event to jump into Harlan County for TeamMates! NPPD beginning wood pole imspections across state

Columbus, Neb. – Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has contracted with Alamon Utility Services and Osmose Utility Services to inspect wood poles on its distribution system and subtransmission and transmission facilities during the calendar year 2023.

The Gosper County Senior Center is in full swing and has coffee drinkers in at 8:30, pool-players in the midmorning, exercise machines that are in motion, a puzzle on the table, domino game to get started after lunch and of course great noon dinners for you to enjoy with friendly neighbors. Arapahoe sent 14 participants to the Holdrege Prairie Museum for the ESU 11 Invention Convention last Thursday. They had two inventions earn ribbons. Nebraska Extension is looking to gather more information on cowcalf producers’mineral supplementation practices. To better establish research and educational resource needs for beef cattle producers, Nebraska Extension has released a producer needs assessment survey targeting cow-calf producers.

Billie L. Dutton, 77 of Kearney passed away Monday, March 20, 2023 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Memorial services were held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. The family received friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

James Richard Bryan, loving husband, and father of two, grandfather of four, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 15, 2023, at the age of 77. Jim was born on May 24, 1945, to Mabel (Zoerb) and Richard Bryan in San Luis Obispo, California. He grew up in the Callaway/ Oconto, Nebraska area, raised by his mother and stepfather, Barney Ward. Jim graduated from Callaway High School and then went on to get his Bachelors of Animal Science at the University of Nebraska. While at university, he met the love of his life, Dixie Miller. He always said that it would be a cold day in hell before he married and on December 28, 1968- it was, with three feet of snow on the ground and more coming down. They started their life together in Lincoln but soon moved to Cambridge, Nebraska as he got the position of Ag Representative Loan Offi cer at the First National Bank. After banking, he began farming and ranching with Dixie’s father in Wilsonville, Nebraska. He did this for many years enjoying what he had grown up with. He moved his family to Lexington, Nebraska in the late 80’s, where he once again worked as a loan officer at American charter then at IBP/ Tyson working in quality control before finally retiring.
