Everyone should certainly be enjoying these nice fall days. A high of 71 on Monday! Can’t get much better than that. Tuesday morning was a bit different. It wasn’t all that chilly, but you sure couldn’t see very far. At least not from here on The Hill.

Downtown Oxford was filled with trick or treaters on Halloween during the Chamber of Commerce event on Tuesday, October 31. The Chamber served free grilled hot dogs, chips and drinks and businesses and others set up for trick or treating.

This process is referred to as woody encroachment and is among the greatest threats to the Great Plains grasslands. Prescribed fire is a tool that can be used to control invasive species and improve grass quality and availability for livestock. Arapahoe-Holbrook High School students One Act Play performance was held on November 13th. “One Stoplight Town” by Tracy Wells depicts a small town where people either want to get away from it or come back to it. RPAC competitions will be Nov. 15 in Holdrege at the Tassel at 12:30 pm and District will be at Southwest High on Nov. 27.

Community Hospital announces Becky Felker as 2023 Caring Kind Recipient

McCook, Nebraska—Community Hospital is excited to announce the hospital’s 2023 Caring Kind recipient is Becky Felker, LPN, a nurse with Community HealthCare and Hospice. She was honored in October as Community Hospital’s Caring Kind recipient during the Nebraska Hospital Association annual convention in La Vista. During the convention, Felker was a guest at the Caring Kind luncheon along with other recipients from across the state.

Village of Oxford renews nuisance abatement contract

The Village of Oxford Board of Trustees heard the concerns of residents regarding people speeding when coming into and leaving town on East Cornwall Street during their meeting on Monday, November 6, 2023. Travis Fisher spoke to the board saying he has seen a lot of close calls and does not want to see someone get hurt or killed.
