LINCOLN - The Cambridge FFA Chapter traveled to Lincoln April 3rd-5th to compete at the 2024 State FFA Convention. The Nursery and Landscape team were state champions with Brenna Deterding placing first, Bailee Ahlemeyer placing second, and Mileeya Monter placing twentieth.

BEAVER CITY – Over 20 residents attended the 45-minute city council meeting on April 15. Local businessman Mike Kelly’s requests to add additional chairs for seating or allow residents to bring in their own chairs were denied.

Many of the area schools took part in their career and technical student organization conventions over the last couple of weeks. School chapters for FCCLA, FFA, and FBLA all had conventions where they competed against their peers for state recognition, many bringing home top placements.

Area schools compete at annual Don Stine Invite

CAMBRIDGE - Arapahoe, Cambridge, Maywood-Hayes Center, Southern Valley, and Southwest competed with other schools as the annual Don Stine Invite at Cambridge Monday. For the girls' teams, Cambridge placed second as a team, Southern Valley and Maywood-Hayes Center tied for fourth, Arapahoe placed seventh, and Southwest placed eighth.
Southern Valley’s Adi Hunt had a dominant day Monday at the Don Stine Invite, capturing gold in the long jump, 200 and 400, while finishing with silver in the 100.

ARNOLD - The Medicine Valley track and field team traveled to Arnold, NE, to compete at the South Loup Invite last Friday. The boys placed fourth as a team with 66 points and the girls placed third as a team with 64 points.

JOHNSON LAKE - With howling winds, four local golf teams opened their seasons last Thursday at the Hi-Line Invite. Despite the conditions, four teams broke 360 in team score and Southern Valley finished fifth with a 372 and Hi-Line took sixth with a 376.
