Peru State College hosts Research and Creativity Expo

(Peru, Nebraska) – Nearly 40 Peru State College undergraduate students recently participated in the College’s annual Research and Creativity Expo held on April 9. The Expo, which was initially established as the result of the College’s strategic plan, began in 2019 to increase student engagement and learning while leading to increased student success.

Farr and Woehrle receive Consolidated Community Scholarships

Haydn Farr of Maywood, Nebraska and son of Dallas & Lindsay Farr as well as Madison Woehrle of Eustis, NE and daughter of Karrie Woehrle have been awarded a scholarship from Consolidated Companies, Inc. Haydn & Madison will each receive a scholarship of $2,000 for higher education for the 2024-2025 school year.

NCTA graduation set for may 9

The Aggie Class of 2024, graduating on May 9 from the University of Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, will gain a valuable perspective on the agriculture industry from alum Steven Wellman of Syracuse, NE, President of Wellman Farms and former Director of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture as the keynote speaker.

Larry Maatsch retires after 40 years from Cambridge Rescue

After forty years of answering the call for rescue, Larry Maatsch, an EMT for Cambridge Rescue, has retired. Maatsch says while he will miss the pager at his side, it is also a relief. “It’s on your side 24 hours a day,” he says. An open house for his “40 Years of Service and Dedication” was held on Saturday, April 20th at the Cambridge Congregational Church. Well over 100 people attended the two hours event. Larry says he has also been stopped by many well-wishers that could not attend congratulating him.

AURORA – Lindy Elson of Curtis was surprised to be inducted into the Nebraska Auctioneer Association Auxiliary Hall of Fame on Saturday night during the organization’s annual convention. The long-time member of the NEAA is the first and possibly the last male to receive this honor.
