Ken and Sylvia Harsch awoke to quite a surprise last Tuesday, June 18 when they discovered their barn burned to the ground. Their farrowing house and a camper were also destroyed in the fire.

Jerry Liess of the Indianola Chiefs was inducted into the NEMFCA Eight-Man Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, June 15. NEMFCA, or the Nebraska Eight-Man Football Coaches Association, held the event at Hastings College.

Dale and Judy Beedle have made their home in the Arapahoe area together for more than 61 years. Judy graduated from Wilcox and Dale has lived here all his life. The two were married March 3,1963 and have been staples of our community ever since.

Where has the summer gone? It is already time for local county fairs! There are many aspects of the fair that everyone can participate in, from exhibiting projects to taking in the night attractions, there is for sure something that you and your family can enjoy! Dear Editor, It was so great to see many young teachers at the Nebraska Career & Technical Education Conference recently that have passed through their initial training at Curtis NCTA and then on to another institution to complete their training and now proceed with their career as an agricultural instructor! With the completion of the recent fourth ‘Boot Camp’ at NCTA, I was lucky enough to extend my interaction with several additional ag instructors from Nebraska schools and also a few instructors from other states.

Over the past few weeks, Nebraskans across the state have begun receiving their property valuation notices. The common reaction to those statements can be summed up in one word -- outrage. One Nebraskan recently interviewed for a news story had the perfect reaction to the question “what goes through your head when viewing your property tax valuations?” Her response: “I can’t say that on TV.” She is not alone. Countless Nebraskans are in disbelief when they see the recent increases in their home values.

Since Joe Biden took office, gas prices have risen over 54%.Biofuels like ethanol and biodiesel are one solution to relieve that burden. That’s why I’ve fought as governor and senator to make biofuels more available to American drivers year-round. Earlier this year, I asked for the administration to allow the summer sale of E15 nationwide. That request was granted.
