Do you want the chance to make lifelong friends while becoming a leader in your school and community? Discover a world outside the classroom through an intensive leadership experience that builds communication skills, teaches creative problem-solving, and challenges you to change not only you but the world around you. Open to any current sophomore or junior students from Arapahoe, Cambridge or Southwest. Camp will be held at Maranatha Camp in Maxwell, NE, July 7th – 11th.

Arapahoe High School Prom 2025 candidates are: (l-r) Haiden Garey, Grayson Koller, McKenzie Ewoldt, Lael Rathbun, Kristen Holcomb and Will Cacy. The doors open to the public Saturday, March 29th at 4:00 to come and view the prom setup and will end at 5:00. Promenade begins at 6:00 in the south gym.

Rosellen Ann Dickmeyer, formerly of Arapahoe, NE, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, March 20, 2025, in her assisted living home in Cozad, NE with her daughter Gwen by her side. She had many caring nurses and friends and family who visited in the days prior to her passing while on her journey to her final resting place.

Take Down Tobacco

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) is partnering with Tobacco-Free Nebraska to promote the Take Down Tobacco Initiative on April 1, 2025. Sponsored by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, this event empowers individuals to take a stand against the tobacco industry. On this day, young advocates and their communities will unite to confront Big Tobacco, unveil the tactics used to entice youth into addiction, and advocate for meaningful change.

Cambridge City Council hires Summer Library Interns

Cambridge City Council met on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. Nora McGowen was absent from the meeting. After the Pledge of Allegiance and the Open Meeting Law announcement, the council approved the Consent Agenda which included the claims, the minutes from March 3, 2025, the Museum Board Minutes from February 26, 2025, the Park Board Minutes from February 11, 2025, the Planning Commission Minutes from March 12, 2025, and the Library Board Minutes from March 12, 2025. The Consent Agenda also approved hiring Reid Huxoll and Robin Johnson for the Summer Library Internship.

Since the last word from The Hill, we did have a little snow. About 4” maybe? Hard to tell with the 3’ of wind that came with it. But, it’s a bit of moisture and we’ll take it! Since then, the only thing Mother Nature has managed to give us is more wind.
