Hot day leads to big performances at Southern Valley

On a hot and windy afternoon, local athletes from four area schools put forth a number of great early-season performances at the Southern Valley Track & Field Invite Friday. Southern Valley’s Adi Hunt dominated in her final home invite, finishing first in all three sprint races as well as the long jump, where she reached a mark of 17-4.

Cambridge School Board selects building plan

The Cambridge Board of Education held a special meeting on Monday to hear public comment on and select a pathway for their planned building project. After an hour of public comment, the Board voted 5-1 to move forward with Concept Design K, a $19.2 million proposal that includes demolition of the two-story portion of the school and construction of a single story addition to replace it.

Arapahoe’s Rathbun takes gold at State Speech

In his fourth year of participation in Humorous Prose, Arapahoe’s Lael Rathbun was determined to make finals at State speech after coming up just short of medaling at State a year ago. But during Thursday’s awards ceremony, Rathbun was floored when he found out he was a State Champion.
“I would definitely say arts have brought me out of my shell,” he said. “They’ve made me more charismatic and more comfortable around other people.”

Arrest made in weekend burglaries in Eustis

In the early morning hours of Saturday, March 29, the Frontier County Sheriff's Office was notified of thefts that occurred in the Village of Eustis. Upon investigation, it was determined that 3 males entered approximately 10 vehicles and a garage where they stole several items.
