The Elwood Public Schools Board of Education met on Monday, August 11th, 2025. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m.

Aug. 7, 2025 (McCook, Neb.) — Weather permitting, a chip seal project will begin Monday, Aug. 11 on U.S. Highway 283 (US-283), according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Chip seal is an application of an asphalt binder to a roadway surface followed by an aggregate.

The Garden Prairie Church will hold their annual ice cream social this Sunday August 17th from 5-7 p.m. at the church located on Highway 83 about 16 miles south of Maywood. With over 20 kinds of ice cream & desserts being served. A free will offering will go to Homestead Rescue at Wellfleet & L2 for Kids at McCook.

Drug Enforcement Administration encourages open conversations on danger of drugs and social media as students return to school OMAHA, Nebraska – As students across the state prepare to return to school, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Omaha Division is encouraging families to have open conversations about the potentially lethal consequences of drug experimentation and the threat posed by drug dealers on social media. In Nebraska, DEA has seized more than 145,000 fentanyl pills in the first seven months of 2025.

The Indianola Alumni 1891–1969 met August 7, 2025 at St. Catherine’s Church Hall, with a total of 44 attendees, including graduates, spouses, and guests. Our theme depicted all forms of travel - “Traveling to Alumni” via Planes, Trains, and Automobiles”!

The weather covered us with a cool shady afternoon in Stockville on Saturday, August 2, 2025. Over 55 people attended the reunion to catch up with family and friends as folks traveled many miles to greet each other. August 12, 2025 Summer is over (by the school calendar) and school is starting! Didn’t summer just start 3 weeks ago?? It’s like I’ve heard since I was a young girl, “The older you get, the faster time goes.”
