ARAPAHOE – During the January meeting, the school board approved the secondary principal contract for Arapaho Alum Aaron McCoy. McCoy, who graduated from Arapahoe-Holbrook in 2008, is currently serving as Activities Director at North Platte Public School.

MCCOOK - At a sentencing hearing held in McCook Wednesday morning, Nick High of Bertrand was sentenced to 90 days in jail and five years of probation for crimes committed while he was a teacher at Maywood Public Schools. High will also have to register as a sex offender for 25 years and assessed a $7,500 fine.

BEAVER CITY - The results were in Tuesday nigh as voters in Arapahoe-Holbrook Public School District weighed whether or not to allow the district $750,000 in additional tax authority. Over 500 ballots were returned and voters rejected the tax authority override measure by a vote of 262-232.

The Arapahoe Library Foundation and Laura McInturf have partnered to bring the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to Furnas County. The organization helps to provide books to children ages 0-5 at no cost to them. McInturf had learned of the program through relatives and wanted to sign up for it for her son. With no active program in Furnas County she reached out to the Imagination Library and found it would be simple. Needing a 501c3, she partnered with the Arapahoe Library Foundation. “They were happy to help,” says McInturf.

The Cambridge Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce its annual Banquet scheduled for February 14th, and members are invited to participate in selecting this year’s standout contributors. Diplomas were conferred on nearly 400 University of Nebraska Medical Center students on Dec. 20.

Hastings College has announced the Dean’s List for its fall 2025 semester. For the semester, 342 students from 25 states and 10 countries were named to the Dean’s List.
