ARAPAHOE - After two years of planning, the renovations to Arapahoe’s Crystal Theater are close to beginning. The plans call for an expansion south into a portion of the Arapahoe Senior Center with a new lobby that includes ticket sales, concessions and ADA-compliant bathrooms.

Teachers of Tomorrow Launches Nebraska Program to Expand Access to State-Approved Teacher Preparation

Teachers of Tomorrow (ToT), one of the nation’s largest teacher preparation programs, today announced the launch of Nebraska Teachers of Tomorrow, a new stateapproved alternative teacher preparation program designed to help more aspiring educators enter the classroom and support school districts across Nebraska with a stronger, more reliable teacher pipeline. The program is now accepting applications.

League Softball Tournament comes to Cambridge this weekend

The South Central Nebraska Softball League brings its annual season-end tournament to Cambridge this weekend. While first-round games will be played at higher seeds Friday evening, the quarterfinals, semifinals, third-place games and championship games for 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U as well as medal round games for 18U will be played on the two fields at McKinley Park, beginning at 8 a.m.

Among topics discussed were the School Wellness Policy review that included the Triennial Wellness Policy Assessment Report and food/ nutrition pricing for the upcoming school year as well as substitute teacher pay rates.

Gladiators juniors drop first two contests

IMPERIAL - The Cambridge- Arapahoe Post 199 Galdiators’ junior baseball team dropped its first two contests of the season, falling 12-4 at Alma Saturday and 9-3 at Imperial on Monday. The seniors’ season opener at Imperial was stopped due to a storm in the fourth inning Monday and will be resumed at a later date.

COLUMBUS - Southwest senior Houston Billeter fired a two-day total of 157 to tie for seventh and earn his secondconsecutive State medal to lead local players at the Class D State Tournament in Columbus last week. Billeter shots rounds of 78 and 79 to finish in a threeway tie for the seventh-place medal.
