Homecoming festivities were held last Friday, October 1st at Arapahoe High School with Caitlin Tangeman crowned AHS Queen and TJ Eichenberger AHS King. Caitlin is the daughter of John and Ingrid Tangeman and TJ is the son of Todd and Deb Eichenberger.

Holbrook Village Board meeting Long informed the board members that the City of Arapahoe had donated their 1994 Ford ambulance to the Village of Holbrook.

Arapahoe High School Candidates were announced Nichole McCoy, daughter of Steve and Diane McCoy; Jon Urbom, son of Dave and Chris Urbom; Joni Hinz, daughter of Roger and Paula Hinz; Jill Tangeman, daughter of John and Ingrid Tangeman; Josh Ervin, son of Doug and Shelly Ervin; Mandy Helms, daughter of Kim and Jo Helms; Adam Lambert, son of Larry and Brenda Lambert; and Dallas Christensen, son of Mel and Ruth Christensen. Gary Nelson of Petersburg, ND is the interim administrator at the C.A. Mues, Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.

After 20 years of dedicated custodial service Melvin Smith is retiring from Arapahoe Public Schools. Candidates for the Homecoming Kin and Queen at Holbrook are Gregg Hilker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hilker; Becky Hinton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Hinton; Andrea Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Brown; and Cobe Jording, son of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Jording.

Patricia Andrews, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Andrews and Mark Hilker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hilker were chosen Queen and King to reign over the Holbrook Homecoming Friday night.

A native of Arapahoe, Mrs. Muriel Evans celebrated her 100th birthday Sunday at a reception at the Masonic Hall in Arapahoe.

50 years ago

At the Blacksmith, Welders and Machinist Association at Lincoln, Gust Martens was elected to the association newest inaugurated Hall of Fame and has lived in Arapahoe since 1939. Dick Helms, 17, of Holbrook showed the Champion Hereford Market Steer at the Ak-Sar-Ben Livestock Show at Omaha.

60 years ago

Crowned at Homecoming Friday night were Neal Cross and Linda Kennedy. Attendants were Allan Wengert and Carolyn Leising, and Dean tenBensel and Janet Williams.

The Reverend Robert Grote who had served at St. Matthew Lutheran Church since 1958 will give his last farewell sermon on October 9.
