LANA L. KESTER
Lana Louise Kester of Oxford went to be with her Savior on March 2, 2021. She was 8o years old. Lana was born on June 8, 1940 in Chicago, IL to Dr. Howard L Kester DVM and May Louise (mayo Kester. The first few years of her life were spent in Cambridge, NE, Little Rock, AR and Silver Springs, MD. Her father was a Federal Veterinarian and in the Army. The family moved to Cambridge when the WWII ended. They moved to the family farm near Orafino in Frontier County. She attended grade school in Orafino. Then Lana moved to the Martin Luther Home in Beatrice, NE. In 1975 Lana moved to Oxford, NE where she spent the rest of her life living and working at the MidNebraska Individual Services.
Through all the years she always considered Cambridge and the farm at Orafino her home. She always attended the Frontier County fair at Stockville. She looked forward to attending the Sunday evening entertainment. She especially enjoyed riding the Ferris wheel in her younger years and always wanted to know if there was going to be a Ferris wheel with the carnival.
Through the years she was able to do some traveling, going to Las Vegas, Hollywood and on several cruises. She spent the holidays with her family in Cambridge. She enjoyed taking part at the activities at Oxford also. She had a sunny disposition and made friends easily. She got along with everyone.
In her younger years Lana enjoyed going to church at the Orafino Evangelical United Brethren Church. She had fond memories of the sunrise Easter Services. She attended church in Oxford and especially enjoyed the many covered dish dinners.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Howard and Louise Kester; step-mother: Valentine Rankin Kester; and brother: Larry Kester.
Lana is survived by her brothers: Edward (Marilyn) and Howard (Valaine); nieces and nephews: Toni (John) Hawks; Kevin ( Meredith) Kester; Casey (Terry) Kester; Keith Kester; Kenneth (Meg) Kester, Cliff (Karen) Kester; Cordy Kester; Kipp Kester; Kirby (Rene’ ) Kester; Kerry Kester and Keith Horton along with several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at the Lockenour Jones Mortuary in Cambridge on Thursday, March 4, 2021. Funeral Services were held at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Jim Jones giving a message. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery of Cambridge.
