A memorial service for Richard D. “Dick” Morse will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Oxford, Nebraska with Pastor Albert Longe officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Oxford Cemetery.

Richard Dale “Dick” Morse, 83 years of age, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away, on September 8, 2024, at Life Care Center in Elkhorn. Dick was born at home near Beaver City, Nebraska on June 19, 1941, the second of five children, born to Doyle and Pauline (Steinke) Morse. He received his education from Arapahoe High School in Arapahoe, Nebraska and later attended and graduated from Edison High School, with the class of 1959.

On February 14, 1960, Dick was united in marriage to Linda Varwig in Norton, Kansas, and to this union two children were born: Richard Nicholas “Nick” and Todd Allen. The couple lived in Oxford for two years and then in Cozad, Nebraska for 14 years, while Dick worked at Monroe Auto Equipment Company. In 1976, the family moved to Monroe, Michigan. Dick advanced in his career and became World Wide Director of Quality Control for Tenneco Automotive. After his retirement in 2000, Dick and Linda continued to live in Michigan until moving back to Omaha, in 2014 to be closer to family.

In the early years, the family enjoyed boating, waterskiing and camping in Nebraska. Dick enjoyed traveling with Linda to many places all over the world, family barbecues, playing golf and taking care of his pool and yard. Dick and Linda loved to go dancing and attending concerts.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Pauline Morse; a brother, Robert (Bob) Morse, and wife, Cheryl; and a sister-inlaw, Cheryl Varwig.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Morse of Omaha; children: Nick of Lincoln; and Todd and his wife Kim of Omaha; four grandchildren: Amanda Hansen and husband Nathan of Omaha, Matthew Morse of Omaha, Jeremy Morse of Omaha and Alek Morse and his wife Tina of Lincoln; two great-grandchildren: Jane Hansen and David Hansen, both of Omaha; two brothers: Larry Morse and wife Sandy of Florida, Ron Morse and wife Lynn of Brighton, Colorado; a sister: Linda (Morse) Nelson and husband, Russ of Littleton, Colorado; two brothersin- law: Mick Varwig of Oxford; and Don Varwig of Trenton, Nebrasaka; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A memorial book signing will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Oxford.

Memorials in Dick’s honor are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
