A memorial service for Velma M. Loose will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Jason Dowell officiating.

Velma Marie Loose, 89 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away, on March 8, 2025, at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege.

Velma was born in Sterling, Colorado on July 13, 1935, the oldest of three girls, born to Guy and Gladys (Capstick) Coakley. She received her education from Fullerton Public School before transferring to Oxford Public School and graduated from Oxford High School.

On June 1, 1954, Velma was united in marriage to LeRoy Frederick Loose and to this union, seven children were born: Nova Jo, Dana Marie, Dean LeRoy, Randy Ray, Thomas Lee, Steven Roy, and Mary Eileen. Velma worked most of her life at Artistic Woven Labels, and after she retired she started helping out part-time at Two Rivers.

Velma enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, and quilting. She stayed busy helping with food giveaways and cooking, especially making numerous pans of cinnamon rolls over the years. Velma always had a dog to keep her company.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Nova Jo Loose; one son, Randy; one sister, Lila Snyder; and one brother-in-law, Jim Blincow.

Velma is survived by five children: Dana Baxter and her husband, Bill; Dean Loose; Thomas Loose; Steven Loose; and Mary and her husband, Bill; three grandchildren: Phillip Wilbur (Terasa); Dennis Richardson (Leah); Crystal Loose; one greatgrandson: Kannon Lee Loose; one sister, Helen Blincow; one brotherin-law, Jim Snyder; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

The family is honoring Velma’s wish for cremation.

Memorials in Velma’s honor are suggested to the family for a later designation.
