Ed Wood, 90 years of age, of rural Ogallala, Nebraska, died on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at his home. Ed was born on July 19, 1934, in Missouri, the first child of Edward Monroe and Stella Pearl (Alexander) Wood, and was raised in Hutchinson, Kansas. Ed worked many jobs during his life, including, bell hopping at the Bisonte Hotel during his early years. He then started as a grocery clerk for the JS Dillon Company, where he worked his way into store management positions in Colorado.

Ed was united in marriage to Joan Hilton but was later divorced. They had one son, Edward Armstrong Wood. He moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, and where he and his brother started a business building and selling water conditioning equipment. They also installed seamless siding, fencing, insulation, and sold satellite dishes.

They enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, attending muzzle loading shoots, and the annual muzzle loading convention together. Ed also sewed his own buckskins, moccasins, and possible bags/ shooting pouches. From this he started designing and making bags for sale on request and at convention. They are in use to this day.

His Moto Guzzi motorcylces were a pride and joy. He and Kathy loved riding them and they attended a couple of national rallies and gatherings, over the years. The farthest one was a trip to Washington State, then part way down the California coast.

Ed enjoyed hearing about all the activities of the greatnieces and great-nephews, he said they were, “ pretty busy…” And he loved sharing his knowledge of hunting and fishing with nephews: Will Goding, and Nate Murdoch; and great-nephews: Bennett Murdoch, Maxwell Murdoch, and Quinten Jacobs, as hunting and fishing buddies.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father; his grandparents; his fatherin- law and mother-in-law: William A. “Bill” and Dorothy “Dot” (Blincow) Manley; a sister, Wanda in childhood; and a brother, Larry.
