She worked as a peach packer and librarian while in that area and met Bill Siminoe while attending Mesa Junior College in Grand Junction, CO. She left before completing her teaching degree to marry Bill on October 20, 1953, and they moved to Ft. Sill, OK so he could begin basic training. Upon his discharge they returned to Colorado to take advantage of the GI Bill at Colorado State University. In the summer they traveled as Bill worked road construction and while in Fort Collins, Elaine managed the trailer court where they lived. Judith Lee was born in July of 1956 in Denver. Two years later, Cindy Jo was born in Meeker, CO. Bill graduated with his Vocational Agriculture Education degree and accepted a teaching position in Holbrook, NE. Jonathan Wayne was born in 1967. The following year the family moved to Curtis, NE where Bill led the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture. Elaine worked as a homemaker, leading in every activity each of the children engaged in, she taught Sunday School, served as a leader in Awanaa and tutored people in the Frontier County Jail. She worked as a store clerk and a bank clerk. As Bill neared retirement, she decided to complete the undergraduate degree she had started in the 50’s and commuted to Kearney, NE where she graduated in 1955. Upon Bill’s retirement, she began a career in substitute teaching, and both were very involved in the First Baptist Church in Kearney. Elaine loved to read, play cards and spend time with family and friends. She was a lifelong member of PEO, known for her humor, her kindness and faith in Christ. In recent years, she had struggled with Alzheimer’s disease and its effects and is now with her Lord and Savior. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences may be shared online at www. osrfh.com.
