CATHERINE A. REINERS
Catherine A. Reiners, age 91, of McCook, NE passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Hillcrest Caring Center in McCook.
Catherine was born April 23, 1929 in Trenton, NE to parents Harvey J. and Florence Mary (Blue) Chapman. She was one of eight children born to this union. The family made their home in Trenton where Catherine also attended school.
On July 31, 1948, Catherine married Glenn J. Reiners at the St. James Catholic Church in Trenton. The couple was blessed with six children. Glenn and Catherine lived on the family farm until 1964 when they purchased the Soo Paw Motel in Trenton. Over the years, Catherine enjoyed being a homemaker. She had the gift of hospitality, blessing others with her cooking and baking. Catherine also enjoyed golf and needlepoint. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church as well as the Alter Society.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Reiners in 2010; sisters, Floretta Thomsen, Patricia Lafferty, Shirley Rine and Barbara Pantenburg; and her brothers, James, Thomas and Oscar Chapman. Those left to celebrate her life include her children, Robert (Jolene) Reiners of Derby, KS, Dennis (Marla) Reiners of Trenton, Thomas (Mary) Reiners of Yankton, SD, Glenda (Mark) Fletcher of McCook, William (Judy) Reiners of Colorado City, CO, and Ronald (Karen) Reiners of Johnstown, CO; brother-in-laws, Bob Patenburg of McCook and Tom Rine of Waverly, NE; fifteen grandchildren; four step grandchildren; twentyone great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; one greatgreat-grandchild; and a host of extended family members and friends. A private family graveside was held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Calvary Cemetery, McCook, with Father Gary Brethour as Celebrant. Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, Recitation of the Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date.
