Southern Valley jumps Cambridge early for win

SOUTHERN VALLEY It took a minute or two for the action to get going in the annual showdown between Southern Valley and Cambridge boys basketball teams last Tuesday.

But once the Eagles got going, they jumped all over the Trojans and were able to coast to a 61-38 victory.

Cambridge struck first in the scoring, but Southern Valley answered with i6-straight to end the first quarter, then scored the first five of the second to build a 21-3 lead.

Cambridge restored some order and cut the deficit to 27-13 at the half.

The Eagles saw their lead sliced again in the third as the Trojans won the quarter 15-14, but Southern Valley still led 41-28 to the fourth.

There, the Eagles blew the game open with a 20-point period to roll to teh victory.

Clayton Berry scored 25 to lead the Eagles while Isaak McPhillamy knocked down foru threes and scored 14. Carter Bose scored 12 and had a double-double with 15 rebounds. He also had five assists and three steals. Berry had six steals and Mitchel Wilson grabbed four boards.
