Arapahoe-Holbrook to Hire an Elementary Principal

ARAPAHOE – During th monthly meeting on December 13, 2021, the board held an executive session to discus teacher salaries for the 2022-2023 school year. Board members met with members of the Arapahoe Education Association (AEA) earlier this month to discuss negotiations.

Since student numbers are growing, the district is looking to hire an elementary principal for the next school year and will begin advertising for that position over the holiday break. Rudy Perez will head up school activities in addition to being the 7-12 principal.

The board passed a reso lution to call the outstanding 2017 general obligation bonds and issue refunding 2022 bonds. It is estimated that the reduced interest rate will save the district over $800,000. Last month after the board called 2016 bonds, they purchased back and reissued 2021 bonds that will provide a net savings of $822,000. The levy will remain the same, so the savings will come into play when the board pays off the bonds three to four years early. All total, the district will save over $1.6 million.

The next regular school board meeting is scheduled for January 10, 2022, and is open to the public.
