Southwest cruises past Alma
ALMA - With consistent scoring throughout, the Southwest boys basketball team ran away with a 53-30 victory at Alma last week, controlling the contest until blowing it open in the fourth quarter.
The Roughriders held the Cardinals in check all night and jumped to an 11-7 lead after a quarter before building a 25-15 lead at the half.
The second half brought more of the same as the Roughriders kept scoring in the third, still trying to shake the Cardinals with a 39-26 lead through three.
Finally in the fourth, Southwest blew the game open, holding Alma to four points in the final eight minutes as they rolled away to a 23-point win.
Hunter Blume scored 16 to lead Southwest and also collected a team-high eight rebounds and four steals. Cole Barnett scored 13 and Nate Rippe added eight. Kaiden Ruggles snared seven rebounds.
