Wayne E. Schutz, 92, of Elwood, NE passed away March 28th, 2022. He was born in Elwood at home to Ernest (Doc) and Louise (Stagemeyer) Schutz on July 2nd, 1929, where he grew up in a large family.

His education was through the 8th grade after which he helped on the farm.

Wayne was united in marriage to Ila Sweeley February 23rd, 1964 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Elwood. The couple lived in the Holdrege area and he was employed by the Museum in Minden, NE doing restorations. Later they moved to the farm outside of Elwood where Ila grew up. Wayne was employed by the Gosper County Department of Roads and later the Nebraska State Department of Roads. After retirement, the couple moved to Edison, NE then Oxford, NE and finally settled in Cambridge, NE. Wayne enjoyed antiques, tinkering, Johnny Cash and Charlie Pride.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ila, brother Merlyn Schutz of Elwood, brother Herbert Schutz of Kirby, OR, sister Eleanore Schutz of Elwood, sister Maxine Snurr of Lexington, NE, daughter-in-law Mari Schutz of Fremont, NE and grandson Kirk Smith of Maywood, NE.

Wayne is survived by daughter Kathleen Jorschumb and husband Jim of Silver City, NM, son Mike Schutz of Fremont, NE, daughter Zoie Nicholson and husband Bill of Lebanon, NE. Seven grandchildren Sarah, Johnathan, Michael, Crissy, Bethany and Kirklend, 7 greatgrandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.

A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
