Dean Herman Dack age 94, of Mc-Cook passed away at the Community Hospital of McCook on Saturday, November 12, 2022. He was born in McCook on October 20, 1928, to Joseph E. and Maude C.

(Tubbs) Dack. He loved country life and raising livestock. He joined the U. S. Army in January of 1951, serving as a member of the 456th Field Artillery Unit during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany until December 19, 1952, when he was Honorably Discharged. Upon his return, Dean continued farming with his brothers and began working at the Red Willow County ASCS office.

On February 16,1964 he was united in marriage to Vera Schwab at the Methodist Church in Lyle, KS. Together they worked their farm Northwest of Indianola, NE, where they raised their two daughters.

He was also a seed salesman for P.A.G. and then Cargill. He served 9 years on the Red Willow ASCS county committee and 8 years on the McCook Public Power Board. Dean “retired” in 1999, and he and Vera moved to McCook, NE.

Dean’s favorite past times were spending time with his family, visiting with friends at the sale barn on sale days, playing pool, hunting and rooting for the Dodgers and the Huskers.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Maude; brothers: Grover, Alvin, Edwin, Joseph and Bradley; sisters: Opal and Ruby.

Dean is survived by his wife of 58 years: Vera of McCook; daughters: Sheri and husband David Sempeck of Omaha, NE; Connie and husband Ron Stritt of Indianola, NE; 6 grandchildren: Luke, Matthew, Colin, Shelby, Alex, and Johnathan; 6 great-grandchildren.

The family chose to honor Dean’s request for cremation. A Memorial Service for Dean will be held at the Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel, McCook at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18 with Jim Jones officiating.
