ELDON D. MOORE

Eldon DeWayne Moore age 87 of Barley passed away at the Hillcrest Care Center in McCook on December 11, 2022. He was born on the family farm North of Cambridge in Frontier County on April 2, 1935, to Earl and Doris (Wight) Moore.

Eldon grew up and went to school in Bartley graduating in 1953.

Eldon married Marilyn Doyle in 1954. To this union Kathy, Bill, Mark, and Mike were born.

Marilyn passed away in 1963.

When Eldon graduated from school and started farming, he traded his car for his first tractor. Eldon was farming nine years before he knocked on the door of Delores Kulwicki. Six months later on July 26, 1964 they were united in marriage. The wedding brought four children into the fold: Jeanne, Don, Carol and Carla.

Eldon and Delores moved their family to a farm north of Bartley where they lived until they moved in to Bartley in 1995. Eldon served on the Bartley Equity COOP Board, Nebraska Association of County Officials, was a County Commissioner for Red Willow County for 32 years retiring in 2000, and served the Bartley Christian Church.

He enjoyed going to various sale barns and buying feeder cattle, feeding many cattle through his farm feed yards and several commercial feed yards. Over the years he and Delores enjoyed traveling to check his cattle in the pasture and various feed yards.

Eldon and Delores enjoyed a cruise to México out of Los Angeles, CA. They belonged to Good Sam’s Club enjoying camping around the area lakes. The couple would winter in Truth or Consequences, NM from 2006 till 2015.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Earl and Doris; first wife: Marilyn; son: Mark; daughter: Kathy Reid: sister: Norma and husband Roy Hart Jr.: grandson: Brady Koch.

Eldon is survived by his wife of 58 years: Delores; children; Jeanne Moore; Don, wife Vonnie Moore; Bill and wife Trisha Moore; Carol and husband Bob Chalupa; Carla and husband Brian Malleck: Mike and wife Brenda Moore; sonin- law: Chris Reid; 15 grandchildren: 33 great grandchildren.

Visitation was held Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Family will be available to greet friends from 5:00-7:00 PM.

Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the McCook Christian Church. Friends may leave online condolences at lockenour.com.

Memorials may be left in Eldon’s name to the Bartley Fire and Rescue Department.
