Larry Kubik
Larry Kubik, age 84 of Cambridge passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on December 28, 2022.
He was born in Furnas County near Wilsonville, NE on February 19, 1938, to Francis and Irene (Witte) Kubik. Larry attended grade school in Hendley, the family moved to a farm near Cambridge, where he graduated from Cambridge High School in 1956. Larry served his country in the Nebraska National Guard for 8 years.
On August 13, 1957, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Harding at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. The couple celebrated 65 years of marriage last August. To this union 3 children were born: Michael, Joyce, and Julie.
Larry farmed his adult life. He served on the Cambridge COOP Board of Directors, Twin Valley REA Board, and the Cambridge Rural Fire Department Board.
Larry enjoyed playing town team softball and basketball into his 40’s.
For the last 10 years he was a member of the Tri Valley Wellness Center, not missing many days.
He and Marilyn enjoyed square dancing and card club. Larry could be found at the Heritage Plaza in Cambridge playing pinochle. Larry rarely missed any of his children or grandchildren’s school activities or sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Francis and Irene; brothers- in law: Joe Langan and Bob Phillips; sister- in-law: Carolyn and husband Don Sayer.
Larry is survived by his wife: Marilyn of Cambridge; son: Michael and wife Gretchen Kubik of Cambridge; 2 daughters: Joyce and husband Dr Lennie Deaver, M.D. of Cambridge; Julie and husband Shawn Jones of Benkelman, NE; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren: 2 brothers: Morris and wife Cathy Kubik of Cambridge; Doug and wife Cindy Kubik of Atkinson; 2 sisters: Phyllis Langan of Kearney; Carole Watton of Derby, KS; sister-in-law: Judy Phillips of Cambridge; brother-in-law: Donnie and wife Anne Harding of Cambridge.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 1, 2023, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM. at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary. The family will be present to greet friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM. Rosary was recited at 7:00 PM on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at St.
John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cambridge with Father Ken Wehrs.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cambridge. Interment was in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be left in Larry’s name to Tri Valley Wellness Center, St.
John the Baptist Catholic Church, or Tri Valley Medical Foundation.
