ADA C. HINSON
A Graveside Service for Ada C. Hinson was held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the Highland Cemetery in Bertrand, Nebraska with Mr. Scott Ford officiating.
Ada Colleen Hinson, 87 years of age, of Bertrand, died, on June 16, 2021, at the Bertrand Nursing Home in Bertrand. Ada was born in Wellington, Kansas on August 8, 1933, the youngest of four children, born to John Joseph and Wilma Janetta (Smith) Worden. She received her primary education from the Wilmot Public school in Wilmot, Kansas and later attended and graduated from Winfield High School, in Winfield, Kansas with the class of 1951.
Following her education, Ada worked at Albright Title and Trust in Winfield as a secretary.
On April 12, 1953, Ada was united in marriage to Robert Hinson at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Winfield and to this union five children were born: Dennis, Denise, Jana, Brett, and Bart. The couple made their home near Arkansas City, Kansas where they had a Dairy farm together.
Later, Ada worked at Hackney Elevator in Hackney, Kansas at a bookkeeper. In 1964, the couple moved to the farm near Bertrand, where Ada raised the kids and helped out around the farm.
Together the couple enjoyed square dancing, roller skating, playing cards, Indian Relic Collecting, and metal detecting.
Ada was a member of the Double H club, the Historical Society, and the Holdrege Area Genealogy Club. She was proud of her work with the Junior Charolais Association.
Ada will be remembered for her genealogy; she did an immense amount of work in the genealogy department at the Nebraska Prairie Museum. She enjoyed collecting antiques, sewing, crafts, and her cats, but above all, she loved to go camping and being with her family.
Ada was preceded in death by: her parents; infant son, Bart Aaron Hinson; her three sisters: Janetta Worden in infancy; Roberta Van-Fleet and her husband, Don; and Joan Crow and her husband, Dean.
Ada is survived by her husband, Robert Hinson of Bertrand; 4 children: Dennis Hinson and his wife, Lori of Bertrand; Denise Klein and her husband, Steve of Holdrege, Nebraska; Jana Nation of Bertrand; and Brett Hinson and his wife, Dani of Bertrand; 11 grandchildren: Kelsey Kunkel and her husband, Jason of Lamar, Nebraska; Garrett Hinson of Holdrege; Sierra Burrows and her husband, Seth of Holdrege; Trevor Nation of Bertrand; Andrew Nation and his wife, Megan of Elwood, Nebraska; Taylor Majerus and her husband, Craig of Minden, Nebraska; Mac Harshbarger and his wife, Breann of Holdrege; Kyle Harshbarger and his wife, Michaela of Bertrand; Brianna Hinson and her fiancé, Jarrod Hird of Bertrand; Brodey Hinson of Bertrand; Gracey Hinson of Bertrand; nine great-grandchildren: Kendra and Joshua Kunkel; Landon Gardner; Coltin and Allie Nation; Easton and Bryson Majerus; Mathias and Cadence Harshbarger; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Visitation was held on Monday, June 21, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Ada’s honor, and kindly suggested to the Holdrege Area Genealogy Club at PO BOX 164, Holdrege, Nebraska 68949.
