Memorial services for Dolores J. Woodruff, age 90, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2024, at Community Bible Church in Norfolk. Pastor Arin Hess will officiate.

Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Nebraska.

Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.

Dolores died Friday, November 1, 2024, at Stanton Health Center in Stanton, Nebraska.

Dolores Jean “Dee” (Williams) Woodruff was born September 12, 1934, on a farm near Beaver City, Nebraska.

She weighed only three pounds at birth and fought to stay alive during the Great Depression. She was always a fighter.

Dolores was the daughter of Ray and Mary (Hollinger) Williams. Her family later moved to town. Dee graduated from high school in 1951.

Dee married Warren Woodruff on June 8, 1952, at the church her ancestors founded in Beaver City. They lived in Oxford, Nebraska until 1971, when they moved to Nebraska City.

Dee began working as a CNA at Duff’s Nursing Home and eventually she became the activities director.

In 1977, Dee started college to become a nursing home administrator. After graduating from college, she was the nursing home administrator in Oxford from 1980 to 1984, in Pender from 1985 to 1988, in Nebraska City from 1989 to 1997, and in Madison from 1997 until she retired in 2004. After retiring, Dee moved to Norfolk.

Dee was very active in Red Hatters and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

She was also very active in her church where she loved to sing in the choir. Dee often sang and played her piano at home. Dee loved her grandchildren and enjoyed every moment with them. She also loved bowling and traveling.

Dee is survived by three children, Timothy Woodruff of Johnson, Nebraska, Trent Woodruff of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Teresa Bohler of Superior, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Donna.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Dee Woodruff; her parents; sister, Ann; brother, Dale; daughter, Tonja; great-grandchild, Taiyari; and many other relatives and a host of friends.
