DONALD E. MCCARTY

Don passed peacefully and went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, May 25, 2024 in Longmont CO. He was born August 12, 1940 in Longmont Colorado to Emery and Elsie McCarty and was raised outside the small town of Beaver City, Nebraska. He was the 2nd of 3 siblings. He enjoyed fishing, swimming and hunting while growing up.

He married in 1960, they had a daughter, Roxy and a son, Rusty and lived in Culbertson and Alma, Nebraska.

In 1980 he moved to Boulder, Colorado and worked at the University of Colorado in Housing for 23 years, until he retired. He loved his job and the many friends he made with his coworkers.

In 2010 he moved to the St.Vrain Manor in Longmont Colorado. He enjoyed his time there and the people he met and made many great friends.

Don led a simple life, he loved to travel with friends and visit his family in Nebraska, he enjoyed drives in the country and being with friends and family in Colorado.His favorite pastime was walking at Golden Ponds in Longmont, meeting friends there and watching the birds and wildlife. He loved Jesus and is now with Him and the friends and family that have gone before him in heaven.

A celebration of life was held Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Golden Ponds Nature Area, 2651 3rd Ave Longmont, CO in the pavilion by the parking lot. Slideshow, reception and light lunch followed at The River Church 18668 North St Vrain Drive Lyons, CO Those who went before: his parents Emery and Elsie, his son Rusty and great nephews Justyn and Aaron.

He is survived by: daughter Roxy (Bob) Stonerook, 3 grandchildren Brandy, Heather and Jason, 3 greatgrandchildren Isabella, Lillian and Alex, 2 sisters Esther (John) and Delores, 4 nephews Bob, Jim, Roger and Paul, 3 nieces Judy, Peggy and Cat and many great (and great-great) nieces and nephews.
