Douglas G. Covey
Douglas Gale Covey, 79, passed away on July 17 2026, at Mira Loma, California.
Douglas was born in Maywood, Nebraska on July 25, 1946 to parents Donald and Marie (Carstens) Covey. He lived in Maywood all of his young life until going to the US Navy. He attended Maywood Public School and graduated from there in 1964. After graduation he worked for Harold Dodson on the farm and also worked for Dick White Well Service. He was always fun loving and loved playing the guitar and singing with neighbors, Dick White and Jeff Hill. He enlisted in the Navy in the buddy plan, with cousin Sam Forester and left in May of 1965 for his duty time there. He was honorable discharged from the Navy in January of 1969.
While in the Navy, he married Diana Wright in California and to this union one daughter was born, Angela Marie.
After divorcing, Doug remained in California, working for Uncle Geroge Kinzer and eventually bought his business.
On May 19, 1972, Doug married Jennifer Morganti. To this union they had 2 sons, Douglas Jason and Bryan Abraham.
Doug remained in California until his passing.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Don & Marie (Carstens) Covey, brother Donald L. Covey & wife Peggy and in-laws, Charles & Gloria Morganti.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jennifer; daughter, Angela of Michigan; sons, Douglas (Elizabeth) Covey, Bryan (Jennifer) Covey, all of California; grandchildren, Grace Marie, Ruth (Adrian), Acosta, Lexi, Lilli, Lance & Leo Covey, all of California; brother, Jon (Deb) Covey of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister Judy (Brad) Wood of Stockville, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Julie (Kip) Wilke & family of California; brother-inlaw, Chuck Morganti of Denver, Colorado, & family of Dallas, Texas. Host of nieces and nephews and many friends.
Graveisde services will be held at the Maywood Cemetery Saturday, October 11 at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow at the Maywood Community Hall.
