Harold Wayne Aupperle, 82, of Maywood, passed away November 20, 2025 at Great Plains Health. He was born on August 3, 1943 to Herman and Evelyn (Larson) Aupperle in Wellfleet.

Harold grew up East of Wellfleet and attended a country school before going on to school at Maywood. He graduated from Maywood High School with the class of 1961. Harold attended Kearney State for a while and then returned to the family farm. He married Sheryl Sloan on February 16, 1963 at Maywood Methodist Church. The couple bought his aunt’s farm and continued to farm there until 2020 when they moved into the town of Maywood.

His love for the farm was unmatched. You could always find him outside either in the field or in the shop working on equipment.

Harold liked to visit casinos and take cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska. He loved jokes and pranks and was one of the orneriest people you would have met.

April Fools Day was one of his favorite days of the year and you always had to be careful with him at the dinner table. It was often if you were not paying attention you would end up with your hand in the butter or ketchup on your fingers. He loved to make his family laugh and would tell the best stories. Harold will be remembered as an excellent husband, father, and grandpa.

Survivors include his wife, Sheryl of Maywood; daughter, Lisa (Shawn) Moore of Wellfleet; grandchildren, Hailee (fiancé Tony Lonowski) Moore of Kearney, Brooke (Orey) Fricke of Wall, SD, Jonathan (KeleeAnn) Moore of Kearney; sister, Ellen Park of Federal Way, WA; sister-in-law, Jean Shirley of North Platte; numerous other family members and many friends.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Evelyn; brother, Richard “Dick” Aupperle; brothers-inlaw, Roy Park and Robert Shirley; and sister-inlaw, Bess Aupperle.
