Jimmie Cruz
Inurnment for Jimmie Cruz will be a private familyonly ceremony held at the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska. Military Honors will be provided by the North Platte Veterans Honor Guard in conjunction with the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.
Jimmie Cruz, 91 years of age, of Alma, Nebraska, formerly of Beaver City, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Good Samaritan Society-Colonial Villa in Alma. Jimmie was born on July 19, 1934, in Lymon, Nebraska, the 6th of 7 children, born to Antonio and Clara (Guzman) Cruz.
Jimmie enlisted in the United States Army, where he served in the transportation division until his honorable discharge.
On August 12, 1956, Jimmie was united in marriage to Patsy Chavez in Lakewood, Colorado and to this union seven children were born: Gloria, Ruth, Jose, Antonio, Jimmie Jr., Sylvia, and Phillip. The family made their home in Denver, Colorado, before moving to Beaver City in 1988. Jimmie worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for most of his career and prior to his retirement, was their Bridge Inspector.
Jimmie enjoyed fishing with his family.
He was a member of the New Wine Fellowship Church in Orleans, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patsy Cruz; four children: Gloria Cruz; Ruth Cruz; Jose Cruz; and Antonio Cruz.
Jimmie is survived by three children: James Cruz, Jr. and his wife, Heather of Helotes, Texas; Sylvia Cruz of Oxford, Nebraska; and Phillip Cruz and his wife, Christy of Georgetown, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. The family is honoring Jimmie’s wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Jimmie’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
