A funeral service for Larry L. Warner was held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Reverend Kenton Birtell officiating. Interment followed at the Fridhem Cemetery in Funk, Nebraska, with Military Honors provided by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the United States Navy Funeral Honors Team.

Larry Leon Warner, 80 years of age, of Funk, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at his home. Larry was born in Cambridge, Nebraska on January 31, 1945, the youngest of four children, born to Oscar and Leona (Monter) Warner.

Larry was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe on Feb. 25, 1945, and later confirmed there on June 7, 1959. He received his education from Arapahoe Public School and later attended and graduated from Holbrook High School, with the class of 1963.

In August of 1965, he enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged in August of 1969. He was proud and honored to serve his country. In 2019, he and Vicky were able to participate in a Hero Flight in Washington DC.

On August 14, 1970, Larry was united in marriage to Vicky Wendland at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cambridge, Nebraska, and to this union three daughters were born: Ann, Jennifer, and Barbara. Larry farmed and drove truck for local farmers. In 1999, Larry and Vicky made their home in Funk, and Larry worked for C.P.I. until his retirement in 2011.

Larry enjoyed fishing and doing yardwork. He mowed for the city of Funk for several years.

He was a member of Mt.

Calvary Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee. After God, family was the most important thing to Larry. He cherished every moment with his loved ones. Any time there was a family gathering, you would find cards or a game at the table. He and Vicky enjoyed their Pinochle club, and Larry spent time with his pitch buddies at the Funk “University”.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Rodney Warner and his wife, Audrey; Lyman Warner and his wife, Darlene; one sister, Carolyn Barnett and her husband, Dennis; one sister-in-law, Teresa Meyers and her husband Neal.

Larry is survived by his wife, Vicky Warner of Funk; children: Ann Anderson and her husband, Kyle of Holdrege; Jennifer Warner of Holdrege; and Barbara Ndiaye and her husband, Ousmane of Lincoln, Rhode Island; six grandchildren: Faith, Hope, and Grace Anderson; and Mackenzie Martin, Elijah, and Lydie Ndiaye; sisters-in-law: Kate Meyers and her husband, Ric of Holbrook; Lana Hilker and her husband, Steve of Arapahoe; Ida Soncksen and her husband, Keith of Arapahoe; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation was held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege.
