A Memorial Service for Leslie Bruntz was held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Oxford, Nebraska, with Pastor Kirk Einspahr officiating. An inurnment followed at the Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Nebraska.

Leslie Harvey Bruntz, 82 years of age, of Oxford, and Elkhorn, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at his home in Elkhorn. Leslie was born in Oxford on July 21, 1943, the second of four children, born to Harvey E. and Louise A.

(Grosenbach) Bruntz.

He received his education from Oxford Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1961.

He pursued higher education from Hastings College and returned to the family farm.

In his early life, Les enjoyed delivering Cessna airplanes from the manufacturing plant in Wichita, Kansas, to private pilots in the United States. On February 14, 1971, Les was united in marriage to Judy Thomas in Webber, Kansas, and this union was blessed with two children: Adam and Sarah. The couple made their home in Oxford, where Les continued farming and operating, Bruntz Aviation, for 50 years. He aerial sprayed for many local farm operations. In 2010, the couple moved to Elkhorn but Les enjoyed returning to the farm to help with planting and harvest.

Les enjoyed flying, and experimental aircraft. He was proud to have built his own kit plane as well.

Les was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Bill Schleusener.

Les is survived by his wife, Judy Bruntz of Elkhorn; his two children: Adam Bruntz and his wife, Michele of Arroyo Grande, California; and Sarah Bruntz of San Diego, California; two grandchildren: Ava and Parker Bruntz; his siblings: Myra Schleusener of Dowagiac, Michigan; Roberta Reed and her husband, Irvin of Grand Island, Nebraska; and Bryon Bruntz and his wife, Cotty of Holdrege, Nebraska; In-laws: Nancy Johnson of Wichita, Kansas; and Douglas Thomas of Mankato, Kansas; along with other relatives, and friends.

A Memorial Book Signing was held on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford. A memorial has been established in Leslie’s honor and will be designated for community contributions.
