A Graveside Service for Lila Mae Ellis will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at the Oxford Cemetery at Oxford, Nebraska with Chaplain Kathy Doiel officiating. The family requests casual attire for the service. Masks are requested by the family.
Lila Mae (Blauvelt) Ellis, 83 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. Lila Mae was born on July 12, 1937, in Holbrook, Nebraska, the third of eight children, born to Harry and Verna E. (Graning) Blauvelt. She received her education from Arapahoe Public Schools and graduated from Arapahoe High School with the class of 1954.
On July 12, 1957, Lila Mae was united in marriage to Tommy G. Ellis at the Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington. The couple made their home in many cities including: Spokane, Washington; Austin, Texas; Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; Bangor, Maine; Bossier City, Louisiana; Beale A.F.B., California; Castle A.F.B, California; and finally to Shreveport, Louisiana, until Tommy’s death, when Lila Mae relocated to Kearney, Nebraska, to be near family. Lila Mae found work as a waitress for over 40 years in the many cites that she and Tommy lived throughout his military career.
Lila Mae enjoyed roller skating in her younger years and collecting dolls and bears.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tommy in 2009; two brothers: Lyle (Rosalie) Blauvelt; and Jack Blauvelt; two sisters: Ruth Arlene Blauvelt in infancy; and Doris (Dan) Turvey; one nephew: Bryan Dunlap; and one brother-in-law, Charles H. “Charlie” Ellis, Jr.
Lila Mae leaves to celebrate her life; her brother, Paul Blauvelt and his wife, Linda of Holdrege; two sisters: Harriet “Jo” Hornaday and her husband, Larry of Kearney, Nebraska; and Thelma Dunlap and her husband, Charles of Kearney; one sister-in-law, Valerie Blauvelt of McCook, Nebraska; along with nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial has been established in Lila Mae’s honor and kindly suggested to Holdrege Memorial Homes.
