Lois M. Vannier

August 24, 1955 – September 10, 2026 Saratoga, CA. Lois Marie (Teter) Vannier departed this life at her home in Saratoga, California September 10, 2026 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Cambridge, Nebraska on August 24, 1955 to Delbert and Cora (Daffer) Teter. She grew up on the family farm north of Cambridge, graduated valedictorian of the Cambridge class of 1973, received her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Math Education from Kearney State College in 1977, and later on an MBA from the University of Santa Clara. She married David Vannier on June 4, 1977 in Arapahoe and moved to California for Dave’s job. They were married for 49 wonderful years. They had two beautiful daughters, Michelle and Jennifer.

Lois had several careers, working at Intel Corp as a scheduler, an accountant at a big 8 accounting firm, and a state income tax auditor. But her favorite was teaching middle school at Challenger where her daughters attended school. She always had a “Mrs. Vannier math problem” for them, reinforcing the significant of paying attention to digits. Lois was a good cook, making her own recipes for truffles, which were handed out at Christmas. She was an excellent carver and quilter. But above all, the farm never left the girl.

She had a large garden with tomato plants that were very prolific. She loved sharing the results of her hard work with her friends.

She was the youngest of six, having been proceeded in death by her parents, sister Joy Teter and sister-in-law Beverly Teter. She is survived by her husband David, and her daughters Michelle Vannier and Jenifer (Josh) Mandella, sisters Alice Teter and Marty Teter, brothers Jim Teter and Herb Teter. She will be missed by all her family and friends. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a late time in California.
