MARILYN K. WAHLMEIER
Marilyn Kay (Vacura) Wahlmeier, 84, passed away on November 3rd, in Cambridge, Nebraska.
She was born on April 1, 1941, to Jerry and Tyny (Shimek) Vacura outside of Jennings, Kansas, where she grew up and attended Jackson Grade School and Jennings High School.
Marilyn lived a full, vibrant life—and she did it her way. She was the loving wife of Dennis for 65 years, and together they raised five children: Angie, Doug, Terri, Steve, and Kirk. Her family was her world, and she gave her heart to every role she played—mom, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, and friend. She also welcomed and loved her children’s spouses as part of the family: Harry, Patty, Cindy and Rachael.
Marilyn was a caretaker who always found time to help others, a teacher, a business owner, and yes, even a motorcycle rider. She sold Tupperware, loved a good thrift store find and never passed up a great rock or a beautiful shell. She had a passion for reading, a curiosity for healing, and a love for traveling to places that fed her soul.
Marilyn touched so many lives with her compassion, generous heart, and quiet sense of humor. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit lives on in the stories we tell, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life was held on Saturday, November 8th at 2:30 pm at the Sunflower Senior Center in Jennings, KS, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory with stories, laughter, and love, just as she would have wanted.
