A Memorial Service for Marilyn K. Nelson will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Nate Krizek officiating.

Marilyn Kay Nelson, 57 years of age, of Cambridge, Nebraska, passed away, on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at the Tri Valley Health System in Cambridge. Marilyn was born in Hamburg, Iowa on June 10, 1965, the fifth of eight children, born to Robert Sr. and Nancy (Marr) Stonerook.

Marilyn received her primary education from Alma Public School.

Marilyn has six children: Tyler, Schehera, Shelby, Tina, Tonya, and Travis. Dennis Chartier has been Marilyn’s companion and support for over 22 years. She worked as a bartender in Bloomington, Nebraska for many years. Family was a big part of Marilyn’s life, she loved to socialize with others and tell stories.

You could often find Marilyn at a garage sale or a farmer’s market.

Marilyn will be remembered for her peanut brittle and green chili.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her significant other and father of Tyler and Schehera, Wayne (Zip) Zade; daughter, Tina Melton; grandson, Thomas James; sister, Linda Stonerook; brother, James Stonerook; stepmom, Kim Stonerook; and niece, Carisa Campbell.

Marilyn is survived by her companion, Dennis Chartier; five children: Tyler Zade and his wife, Carrie of Indianola, Nebraska; Schehera Zade and her fiancé, Paul Draper of Orleans, Nebraska; Shelby Chartier of Indianola; Tonya Willey and her significant other, Reggie Sampson of Hastings, Nebraska, and Travis Melton of Omaha, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; five brothers: Nicky Robuck of Holdrege; Robert Stonerook Jr. and his wife, Roxy of Upland, Nebraska; Ronald Stonerook and his wife, Sara of Arapahoe, Nebraska; Terry Stonerook and his significant other, Tory of Holdrege; DJ Stonerook of Bellevue, Nebraska; three sisters: Peggy Campbell and her husband, David of Holdrege; Vanessa Stonerook; and Tahlionna Stonerook both of Bellevue; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be no visitation or memorial book signing, the family is honoring Marilyn’s wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Marilyn’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
