Merrel E. Mikesell

Merrel “Mike” Ernest Mikesell, 87, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away June 15, 2026, surrounded by family.

Born on a farm near Belleville, Kansas, to Charles and Mary (Irwin) Mikesell, he was one of eight children. He graduated from Belleville High School, attended Kansas State University, and served in the United States Army before earning advanced degrees in agronomy.

Mike married Nancy Jean Petefish on June 4, 1967. He worked for Kansas State Research and Extension and later consulted with farmers in Nebraska before retiring in 2017.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughters, Kimberly Deeke, Rebecca Bailey, and Marjorie McKibben; five grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and his brother John Mikesell.

Visitation was held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 11 AM - 12 PM at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge, Nebraska. Burial in the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge will follow services.
