RANDY KARASH
Randy “James Randall” Karash, 68, of Oxford, Nebraska, passed away on March 20, 2024. He was born on May 4, 1955, in McCook, Nebraska. Randy was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oxford. He started school at Edison Public School and later attended and graduated from Oxford High School with the class of 1973.
Randy, a dedicated laborer, spent 35 years of his career at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. His hard work and commitment were evident throughout his years of service.
In his free time, Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, building birdhouses, putting puzzles together, and most of all, spending time with his beloved family.
Randy will be deeply missed by his wife, Marlana; his sons, Josh (Alicia); and Zebulyn; his sisters, Terri (Lonnie) Groteluschen; Tamme Karash; and brothers, Gene (Dana) Johnson; and Rusty Karash. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Corey (Landon Hoffman); Casey (Elmer) Gonzalez; Brooklyn (Chase Meints); Abree; and great-grandchildren, Jordie and Brees Gonzalez; and one on the way; along with several nieces, and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Jim Karash; dad and mother, Leroy and Patty Johnson; and grandmother, Samantha Hosier.
A Memorial Service to honor Randy’s life was held on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Oxford with Pastor Wes Holen officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Oxford Cemetery.
A Memorial Book Signing was held on Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford, with the family greeting from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established in Randy’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
