A Funeral Service for Richard K. Foster was held on Tuesday, June 1st, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, Nebraska with Pastor Thalia Woodworth officiating. Interment followed at the Stamford Cemetery in Stamford.

Richard Kent Foster, 65 years of age, of Stamford, died, on May 24, 2021, at his home in Stamford. Richard was born in Orleans, Nebraska on October 31, 1955, the 5th of 5 children, born to George and Velma (Stagemeyer) Foster. Richard was baptized on December 4th, 1955 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford. He attended Stamford High School and graduated in 1974. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Stamford.

Following his education, Richard worked with his family at Foster Construction as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed moving dirt with his father and brothers and riding his motorcycles. He felt a tremendous sense of pride from the work he was able to do with his family.

On March 9th, 1974, Richard was united in marriage to Debra Jane Lehmer and to this union one child was born: Zachary George Foster. The couple made their home in Stamford and later moved to Oxford, Nebraska. The marriage later ended in divorce.

On June 7th, 1981 Richard was united in marriage to Cherie Lyda Fryda and to this union one child was born: Lacie Mariah Foster. The couple made their home in Oxford. The marriage later ended in divorce.

Richard enjoyed fishing and hunting with his son. A hunting accident in 1992 ended his abilities for this pastime as well as his love for moving dirt. Due to polio, he did not always have an easy life, but Richard loved his week-long treks and day trips on his motorcycle. He will be remembered for his stories of his motorcycle adventures, his love of good music, and his love for Nebraska football. He cherished his time with his parents.

Richard was preceded in death by: his parents; George and Velma; his brother, Doug; and one niece, Stefanie Florum.

Richard is survived by; his children: Zachary Foster and his wife, Renae of Hastings, Nebraska; and Lacie Foster of Park City, Kansas; five grandchildren: Cameron & Jackson Foster of Hastings; Kenadee Dotson, Kanyon Lamp, & Kyler Young of Park City; two brothers: Dennis Foster of Stamford; and James Foster of Hillsdale, Wyoming; and one sister, Deanna Reynolds of Loomis, Nebraska; along with a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established in Richard’s honor, and kindly suggested to the March of Dimes at P.O. Box 18819, Atlanta, GA 31126.
