Riley Eugene Hager, 24, of Norton, KS passed away September 5, 2022. He was born to Deyton and Angela Hager on November 6, 1997 in Hays,KS. Riley grew up in Norton and was a 2016 graduate of NCHS. After graduation, he attended Manhattan Area Technical College then moved back to Norton. For the last three years Riley has worked for A&N Farms, Inc. The McKenna family wasn’t just an employer to Riley, they were family, Jason, Chandra and the kids meant a lot to him. As a kid, he loved spending time out on the Hager farm with his grandpa and siblings and going on trucking adventures with Drew. Riley also enjoyed hunting, rodeos, and bull riding.

Most recently he took on coaching for the Norton Wrestling Club, he was really looking forward to the new season. He was a great coach and role model for all the young wrestlers. One of Riley’s biggest joys in life was being an uncle, he loved spending time with his niece and nephews and had special nicknames for them. Riley was preceded in death by his great-grandparents: Maynard and Marie Wendel, Stanley and Tootsie Shoemaker, and Marjorie Drommer and cousin, Ashlynn Brooks.

He is survived by his mother, Angela (Andrew) Knuth of Almena, KS; father, Deyton Hager of Cambridge, NE; brothers, Alec and Mason Hager; sister, Stephanie (Jesse) Hilburn and their children Jance, Stetson, and River; grandparents: Leon and Marcia Shoemaker, Terry and Mary Ann Hager, and Dixie Hejny; aunts and uncles: Charlie and Sera Shoemaker, Suzi and Stuart Brooks, Craig and Nancy Hager, James and Pamela Miller, Jeffrey and Kat Hager, Frances Hager, and Darin and Julie Campbell; cousins: Noah, Kellen, and Camryn Shoemaker, Serenity, Wesley, and Mia Brooks, Dalton (Torey) Miller and their daughter, Ariel, Baylee Miller, Nick (Chaise) Hager and their sons, Carson and Kayce Hager, Erica (Jeff) Giles and their son Christopher, Austin Hager and his children, Brantley, Logan, and McKenna, and Adrienne (Kade) Tremblay and their daughter, Hadley Tremblay, and many other relatives and friends.

The family has chosen cremation. Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:00 am Monday, September 12, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Norton. Visitation was held from 4-7:00 pm Sunday, September 11 at the Parish Center with a Rosary following at 7:00 pm.
