Sharon D. Deon
On February 1, 2023, Sharon DeeAnne (Guthrie, Sughroue) Deon, a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, friend, and wife passed away following a short hospital stay at McCook Community Hospital in McCook, NE. Sharon DeeAnne, 82, the youngest child of Carl Guthrie and Ruby Rausch (Ziegler) blessed the world on January 27, 1941, in Stratton, NE. She received most of her education from Indianola elementary/ high school in Indianola, NE. She received one further year of education from McCook Community College prior to her marriage to Thomas Sughroue, he preceded her in death. They were blessed with four children: Michelle, Crystal, Stephanie and Tom. She later married her present husband, Jack Deon. She spent thirty-one years of her working career with the US Postal Service, beginning in Indianola, NE, retiring from the Denver, CO branch of the US Postal Service.
Sharon knew sadness but chose to smile. She knew loss but learned to lead. She loved to dance and dared to dream. She knew hardship but found friendship. For she loved life....and laughter. She found her voice through pen and paint. Life was her adventure with no destination - an open canvas waiting to be filled in the brightest of colors with subtle shades of gray. Her greatest joy was her children and children’s children, for home to her was found in their faces.
Sharon is survived by her husband, John (Jack) Deon of McCook, NE; children, Michelle (Kent) Wurm from Shawnee, KS, Crystal Sughroue from Hastings, NE, Stephanie (Bill) Haag from Danbury, NE, Tom (Kim) Sughroue from Indianola, NE, Marc (Christel) Maebe of Belgium; twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; her heart sister, Sheri O’Neil; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is welcomed into the loving embrace of her mother (Ruby), father (Carl), brother (Eldon “Gus”), and two siblings, Larry Dee and Vonna Rae who died at birth as they share eternal life together. I can hear them catching up on all of life’s events since last seeing one another.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 with rosary following at 7:00 P.M. at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook.
Graveside service is Friday, June 16, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Indianola, NE. Friends may leave online condolences at herrmannfh.com.
