THOMAS D. STRITT
Thomas “Tom” Dale Stritt, age 72, of Indianola, NE passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 following a motor vehicle accident. Tom was born in McCook, NE on October 23, 1948 to Clarence and Alyce Mae (Carmichael) Stritt. Tom attended school in Indianola graduating from Indianola High School in 1967.
Tom entered the United States Army on June 13, 1968 and served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged on April 30, 1970. On August 8, 1970 Tom was united in marriage to Nanci Davidson in Indianola. Tom continued his education at Kearney State College attaining a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1974.
The family returned to the Indianola area where Tom worked for his father at the Gambles store until 1985. He was later employed by the U-Save Grocery, 6th Street Foods. Most recently he was the Veteran’s Service Officer for Red Willow and Furnas Counties. Tom retired from that position after 16 years.
Tom loved to play golf, he loved his country, and he loved his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He was a member of St Catherine's Church, the American Legion, and V.F.W. Posts of Indianola. He was also a retired member of the Indianola Fire and Rescue.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence; sister-in-law, Debi (Davidson) Cullen; nephews, Greg and Kevin Blackman; and his in-laws, Lee and Betty Davidson.
Tom is survived by his wife, Nanci; two daughters, Melissa Stritt of McCook and McKenzie (Kamron) Ochsner of Omaha; two sons, Matthew (Staci) Stritt of Hastings and Mark (Jamie) Stritt of Hastings; his grandchildren, Ryan and Ethan Stritt; Allison and Anna Stritt; Gabby, Gage, and Alexandria Ochsner; mother, Alyce Mae of McCook; siblings, Carol (Dave Fjelseth) Blackman of Indianola; Doris (Ron) Blume of Indianola, Marilyn (Jerry) Slater of Indianola, Nancy Stewart of Omaha, Denis (Doris) Stritt Indianola, Kathy (Jeff) Osterman of Indianola, Ron (Connie) Stritt of Indianola; Brothers-in-law, David (Connie) Davidson of McCook and Tom (Joellyn) Davidson of Indianola; sister-in-law, Lisa (Don) Felker of McCook along with many other loving family and friends. Visitation was held
at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel from 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 25, 2021 until after Rosary at 7:00 PM. The casket will remain closed.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola, on Wednesday, May 26th at 10:00 AM with Father Greg Pawloski officiating. Interment was in the St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery in Indianola. Military Honors was performed by the American Legion, V.F.W. Posts along with the Army Military Honors Detail.
