Timothy McCracken, age 72, of Edison, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the age of 72 after a brief but intense battle with cancer at Harlan County Hospital, Alma, Nebraska. He was born, Timothy Allan McCracken, on February 29, 1952, to Chester Owen and Betty (Deselms) McCracken in Holdrege, Nebraska.

He attended schools in Lexington, Du Bois, Bertrand, and Loomis, Nebraska. Tim enjoyed watching and participating in sports all of his life and during high school. He played football, wrestling, ran track and played baseball. ln addition he sang in the choir and was active in a couple of high school plays. Tim was employed at the Husky gas Station in Holdrege, during high school and graduated on May 19, 1970, from Loomis High School. After graduation, Tim was employed by Holdrege Seed as a truck driver and the Loomis Hay Mitt. Tim attended his first Live concert at the Nebraska state fair and saw, “The Oak Ridge Boys”, on Monday, August 28, 2023.

On April 6, 1971, Tim married Linda Story in Phillipsburg, Kansas. This union was blessed with two daughters, Lisa Jo on June 23, 1971, and Patricia Holly on August 25, 1974. Tim held a variety of jobs during this period of his life including being a roustabout in the oil fields in western Nebraska and being a manager at the Bertrand Coop service station in Bertrand before finding his true calling in truck driving. Tim was a volunteer fireman for years in Bertrand. He and Linda were very active on the bowling leagues. This marriage would later end in divorce.

On May 21, 2011, Tim would marry Jan Beck at the Bertrand United Methodist church. The couple resided in Edison, Nebraska. Tim would drive over the road trucking, until October of 2022, when he retired. ln May 2007, Tim was inducted into the Safety Department of Dart Transit Company’s Hall of Fame for his safe driving. Before he retired, he drove over two million plus miles safely for his trucking company, and Dart Transit Company. Tim also enjoyed hunting, reading western books, watching television and spending time with his special dog, Charlie.
