Arapahoe boys advance to Cattle Trail semifinals; Lady Warriors, Southwest fall to consolation rounds
MCCOOK - With strong first and third quarters, the Arapahoe boys basketball team took down Wauneta-Palisade 46-30 in the first round of the Cattle Trail Tournament in McCook Tuesday, advancing to the tournament semifinals against Dundy County-Stratton Friday at 8 p.m. at McCook Community College.
The Warriors got 12 points from Austin Roush, nine from Grant Taylor and eight from Cord Frink in the victory.
The Arapahoe girls dropped their tournament opener, 59-30, to Maywood-Hayes Center Tuesday and will battle Southwest in a consolation game Friday at 6:30 p.m. at McCook High School.
The Roughriders dropped a 45-20 decision to Decatur Community Schools of Oberlin Tuesday.
The Southwest boys also dropped their tournament opener, falling 62-12 to Dundy County-Stratton Tuesday.
The Roughriders will battle Wauneta-Palisade in the consolation rounds at 8 p.m. at McCook High School on Friday.
Each team will also play again on Saturday, though those matchups and locations will be determined by Friday’s results.
