Arapahoe boys drop overtime contest with Wilcox-Hildreth

BARTLEY - The Arapahoe boys basketball team split its games last week, dropping a home contest with Wilcox-Hildeth in doubleovertime Thursday before bouncing back with a victory over Southwest on Friday.

The Warriors are now 3-3 this season.

Thursday, Arapahoe played with the lead throughout much of the contest, but managed just five points in the fourth quarter as WilcoxHildreth rallied to force overtime.

The first extra session featured lots of offense as each team scored nine points in the four-minute session, including five points from Cord Frink, who had a game-high 14 for Arapahoe.

The second overtime was the opposite.

The Warriors were shut out over the second extra session and the Falcons escaped town with a 49-47 victory.

Nolan Meyers added 12 points and ii rebounds for Arapahoe and Reilley Einspahr scored nine.

Struggles at the free throw line proved costly as Arapahoe sank just six of 17 attempts.

Austin Roush led the team with 14 boards and Ander Wasenius and Einspahr each added four assists while Einspahr added four steals and Meyers had three.

Friday, the game was tied with Southwest, 11-11, after a quarter, but Arapahoe controlled the remainder of the contest with defense, holding the Roughriders to 15 points the rest of the way as the Warriors pulled away for a 42-26 triumph.

Wasenius knocked down 6-of-12 field goals and led the team with 15 points. Grant Taylor added seven.

Roush and Meyers each grabbed nine rebounds and Wasenius had seven and three assists. Frink had four assists.
